Work in Canada

We assess work permit options in light of your experience, circumstances and proposed employment.

How we can help

  • Employer-specific permits
  • Open permits, where available
  • Extensions and changes of conditions

Does this sound like you?

  • You received a Canadian job offer while in Argentina and want to assess the authorization needed before agreeing to a start date.
  • You hold a permit and are considering a different employer, role or set of working conditions.
  • You want to discuss an extension or whether an open work permit category might fit your circumstances.

What we review in a consultation

  • Cyrus can assess the position, your experience, immigration status and the relationship between the offer and the proposed permit.
  • The discussion can identify information needed from the employer and whether an LMIA or possible exemption needs consideration.
  • It can also address existing permit conditions and how to coordinate the next steps with your personal and professional plans.

Getting ready for the first step

Have this information to hand. A short summary is enough for your first message; we will explain how to share documents securely.

  • Summarize the role and your goals; send the offer and other documents only after receiving secure sharing instructions.
  • Have your employment dates, main duties, qualifications and previous or current permits available for discussion.
  • Note planned job changes, expiry dates and pending applications, even if your records are not yet complete.

Questions about this service

How should I prepare my Argentine work history for a consultation?

Summarize employers or clients, dates, duties, hours and pay, and identify employment and self-employment separately. Note available evidence such as references, pay records, contracts or invoices. Cyrus assesses which experience and evidence matter for the proposed pathway; there is no single document list for every work permit.

Does a job offer let me start working?

Not by itself. Authorization depends on a permit or an applicable exemption. Before setting a start date, the requirements and conditions relevant to your circumstances need to be assessed.

Can I apply for an open work permit?

Open work permits are available in specific circumstances. A consultation can assess whether a category might apply; wanting to work in Canada is not enough to qualify for an open permit.

Does a work permit automatically lead to permanent residence?

No. Temporary work and permanent residence have separate requirements. Both goals can be considered together, without assuming that obtaining one guarantees the other.

A job offer alone does not authorize someone to work in Canada.
