Citizenship & PR cards

We help review your history and prepare citizenship or permanent resident documentation applications.

How we can help

  • Citizenship applications
  • Proof of citizenship
  • PR card renewal and replacement

Does this sound like you?

  • You are a permanent resident and want to assess a citizenship application in light of your personal history.
  • You need to renew or replace a PR card, or have questions about how it relates to travel.
  • Your family history may give rise to Canadian citizenship and you want to discuss proof of citizenship.

What we review in a consultation

  • Cyrus can examine periods spent in Canada and abroad, existing documents and the type of application that needs consideration.
  • The consultation can distinguish citizenship, permanent resident status and a PR card so their different functions are clear.
  • Where there are lengthy absences, name changes or gaps in the records, it can help organize the questions and identify relevant documentation.

Getting ready for the first step

Have this information to hand. A short summary is enough for your first message; we will explain how to share documents securely.

  • Prepare a travel and residence chronology; share personal records only after receiving instructions for sending them securely.
  • Have information about your permanent residence, previous cards and any citizenship applications available for discussion.
  • For family-based citizenship questions, note birthplaces and dates, along with the parent or family documents that are available.

Questions about this service

I am in Argentina and my PR card expired. How can I return to Canada?

If you remain a permanent resident, returning by air or another commercial carrier requires a valid PR card or permanent resident travel document (PRTD), together with the appropriate passport or travel document. An eTA does not replace these documents. Before travelling, we can review your absences, residency obligation and relevant documents.

Do I lose permanent residence when my PR card expires?

An expired card does not, by itself, mean permanent resident status has been lost. Residency obligations and the documents needed for travel require a separate assessment of your circumstances.

Is renewing a card the same as applying for citizenship?

No. These applications have different purposes and requirements. A consultation can clarify which one addresses your needs and what information is necessary to assess it.

Can I enquire without a complete travel record?

Yes. Explain which periods you know and which need reconstructing. Cyrus can discuss what information is relevant; uncertain dates should not be filled in with estimates presented as confirmed facts.

Citizenship and permanent resident cards involve separate processes.
